Saudi Arabia successfully hosted one of the most prestigious international golf tournaments through the LIV Golf event in NEOM, attracting 45 of the world's best players and more than 80,000 visitors from 40 countries.
Spaniard Jon Rahm won the tournament with a performance of precise brilliance on a course designed specifically against the breathtaking Red Sea backdrop — a visual experience unlike anything international golf had seen on this scale and beauty before.
Organisers stated that the tournament represents a genuine turning point in placing Saudi Arabia on the map of world sport, adding that ambitions do not stop at golf but extend to hosting major tennis, motorsport, and Olympic events in the near future.
Rahm expressed great satisfaction with the organisational level, noting that the course was in excellent condition and that the warm reception from Saudi Arabia's young and enthusiastic golf fans was remarkable and inspiring, pushing him to deliver his best performance.
Through investment in golf, Saudi Arabia aims to develop a local generation of talented players who could represent the Kingdom in international tournaments within the next decade, as part of a comprehensive sports vision spanning dozens of different disciplines.
